Walk into any warehouse or construction site, and you’ll see a sea of neon yellow and orange. However, there is a massive regulatory distinction between a garment that provides **enhanced visibility** and one that meets the **ANSI/ISEA 107** standard for high-visibility safety apparel (HVSA). Understanding these differences isn't just about terminology—it’s about ensuring workers are legally protected and physically visible in high-risk environments. ## **1. Supplemental Class E: The "Ensemble" Logic** One of the most misunderstood categories in the ANSI standard is **Class E**. You will often see high-visibility pants, bib overalls, or shorts labeled as "Supplemental Class E." By themselves, Class E garments do not meet the requirements for high-visibility safety apparel.
